What is Acoustic neuroma?

Acoustic neuroma is also known as Vestibular Schwannoma, acoustic neurinoma, or acoustic neurilemoma. It means benign tumor of the eighth cranial nerve it arise from Schwann cells .it affects loss of hearing and this can compress the brainstem and other nerves. Generally it cause headache, tinnitus and balance. Mainly it grow very slowly.

Causes of Acoustic neuroma

We doesn't know main cause of acoustic neuromas. Some of the probable causes are as follows:

• acoustic neuroma causes loss of hearing.
• it also reduces brainstem & nerves.
• it cause balancing problems.

Symptoms of Acoustic neuroma

• we lost taste of the sense.
• getting pressure in the ear.
• the commonly find symptom is headache & vomiting.
• facial numbness or paralysis

Treatment of Acoustic neuroma

• there are some types of treatments like as Observation, Microsurgical removal
• we can able to do surgery in the case of loss of hearing & compression of branistem.
• it also consists of radiotherapy, using radiotherapy we can operate on brain without scalpel.
• we are giving treatment as surgery for brain tumours, using biopsy surgery we are able to remove small piece of tumour with the help of this we can easily find which type of tumour it is.
