What is Ahumada-Del Castillo syndrome?

Ahumada-Del Castillo syndromeis also known as uterine synechiae . Ahumada-Del Castillo is a rare endocrine disorder. Ahumada-Del Castillo syndrome is mainly appear in adult women. Affected females cannot become pregnant. Ahumada-Del Castillo syndrome is caused by impairment in the function of the pituitary and hypothalamus glands. The most common hormonal disorder among women of reproductive age in the United States, affecting an estimated 5 % to 10 %t.

Causes of Ahumada-Del Castillo syndrome

  • Ahumada-Del Castillo syndrome is caused by impairment in the function of the pituitary and hypothalamus glands
  • Ahumada-Del Castillo syndrome is caused by galactorrhea and amenorrhoea.
  • Small tumors in the pituitary or hypothalamus glands
  • Wrist dislocation or sprain, including Colles' fracture followed by edema
  • Asherman's syndrome can also occur after other types of uterine surgery
  • Chronic inflammation

Symptoms of Ahumada-Del Castillo syndrome

  • The production of breast milk (lactation) not associated with nursing
  • The absence of menstrual periods due to the lack of monthly ovulation
  • Pain radiating from wrist to shoulder and front side of your forearm is mostly affected
  • Recurrent miscarriages
  • Weakness.
  • Acne, oily skin, or dandruff
  • Weight gain or obesity, usually carrying extra weight around the waist

Treatment of Ahumada-Del Castillo syndrome

  • Treatment for Ahumada Del Castillo syndrome is total hysterectomy (surgical removal of the entire uterus)
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are very effective and safe to reduce the inflammation.
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome surgery is best for this disease.
  • Corticosteroids may help to relieve your pain.
  • GnRH agonists such as Lupron.is used to relief of very painful heavy periods .
  • Medications used to treat the symptoms of Stein-Leventhal syndrome include oral contraceptives, spironolactone, flutamide, and clomiphene citrate.
  • Gonadotrophin releasing hormone agonist medications are under investigation to inhibit pituitary release of LH and thus reduce the secretion of ovarian hormones.
